Local Vendors
Concord families may choose an instrument rental vendor. You may do business with any company you feel comfortable with. Families are always welcome to rent from any company they choose. Below, please find a list of local vendors that families have used in the past. This list is informational; placement on this list does not constitute an endorsement by the Concord Public Schools.
David French Music - Westborough, MA
Leonard’s Music - Bedford, MA
Needham Music, Needham, MA
Music & Arts - Newton, MA
Many instrument vendors offer a "Rent-to-Own" program which often takes roughly three years to complete payment. Monthly instrument rentals through a Rent-to-Own program means you are building equity into potentially owning the instrument one day, but you're not locked into a binding contract should you decide to return the instrument. If your child is planning to continue Band in September, it's a good idea to keep the instrument over the summer so you don't lose the equity you've already earned.
We discourage families from purchasing instruments over renting when students begin their studies. Student success depends a lot on the build/quality of the instrument. If you would prefer to purchase an instrument or use a family instrument, please contact either band director so that we may help guide you through the purchase or refurbishment of a band instrument.
Students who play a "large" instrument (Bass Clarinet, Tenor & Baritone Saxophone, Euphonium, Tuba)
Not all "large" instruments are available for rent through our local music stores. Whether or not the instrument is rentable, we will do our best to provide students with at least one instrument to play on throughout the year. *Students are required to bring their mouthpiece, materials, and supplies back and forth to rehearsals, but not their instrument.

Middle School
- Rentable Instruments: Students who play a "large" instrument that is rentable from a local music store (Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Euphonium) will be provided an additional instrument by Concord Public Schools to use while at school (depending on the school's instrument inventory). The student's rented instrument can remain at home for practice while the school-owned instrument remains at school.
- Non-Rentable Instruments: Students who play a "large" instrument that is NOT rentable from a local music store (Baritone Saxophone, Tuba) will be provided two instruments by Concord Public Schools (depending on the school's instrument inventory); one instrument to remain at home for practicing, and another instrument that will remain at school.
- Rentable Instruments (4th & 5th-grade): Students who play a "large" instrument that is rentable from a local music store (Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, Euphonium) will be provided an additional instrument by Concord Public Schools to use while at school (depending on the school's instrument inventory). The student's rented instrument can remain at home for practice while the school-owned instrument remains at school.
- Non-Rentable Instruments (5th-grade): Students who play a non-rentable "large" instrument will be provided one (depending on the school's instrument inventory) and are asked to transport their instrument back and forth from home.
